Time GS8S #188 Sunburst (1983)

$7,999.00

Rare, collectors' condition, Vermont-made, hand-built, Time GS8S (#188) solid body, set neck electric guitar, from 1983.

This time capsule piece was purchased from the original owner, who ordered the instrument as a gift to their spouse. The instrument was then left cased in a closet for over 40 years. This is an extremely well kept example of a Time guitar built in "the Barn" in South Burlington, VT. Two business cards included in the case show both a Waltham and Burlington location for the company. The original receipt for the guitar and case is included, signed by Time founder Alan Stack.

The finish is a stunning chocolate to chestnut brown sunburst that has not faded or aged. It shows off the beautifully figured mahogany. There are some light finish swirls on the guitar’s top, and a tiny ding in the top sized smaller than a grain of rice. This instrument has had no modifications performed on it.

The guitar is in the GS line of Time guitars, and features a one-piece mahogany body, two-piece set mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard. In addition to being a rare and collectible guitar, it also has superb playability and tone, a 12 degree fingerboard radius, 24 frets, double cutaway design, headstock veneer, 3x3 headstock with Schaller tuning machines, a brass nut, a one piece chrome bridge/tailpiece with individual brass saddles. batwing-style pickguard, two plastic covered humbucker pickups, 3-way toggle switch, dual volume and tone controls.

The guitar weighs 8.26 lbs. The body has a depth of 1 7/8”, and a width of 13”. The neck has a width of 1 11/16” at the nut, a depth of .66” at the first fret, .81” at the twelfth fret. The guitar has a scale length of 24 1/2”. The pickups are USA-made Mighty Mite humbuckers, reading approximately 8.75K in the neck pickup and 8.67K in the bridge pickup.
